Back in the 1960s, Bruce McLaren designed McLaren-Elva sportscars, which boasted many pioneering performance and design elements. And now, McLaren is coming full circle with the groundbreaking 2020 McLaren Elva, which is the British automaker’s first-ever open-cockpit road car. With its powerful engine, aerodynamic profile, quick acceleration, customization options, and an innovative design with a windshield made of “air,” the McLaren Elva delivers a spectacular driving experience. The standout feature of the McLaren Elva is the Active Air Management System (AAMS), which replaces the need for a traditional windshield. When driving at speeds above 25 mph, the AAMS channels air from the nose of the vehicle and diverts it above the driver and passenger to create a calm cocoon inside the cockpit. In essence, you can enjoy a great view of your surroundings — but without wind blowing harshly on your face. However, if you desire a traditional windshield (or if local regulations require it), you can get it factory-installed for the Elva.
Additional distinctive design elements of the Elva include a low nose, prominent front fenders, a full-width active rear spoiler, large carbon fiber rear fenders — and like the rest of the McLaren lineup — vertically-opening dihedral doors. Also, you can personalize the McLaren Elva to suit your individual tastes with the many customization options through McLaren Special Operations.
You can count on an invigorating driving experience with the McLaren Elva. All Elva models come equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine. Mated to the Seven-Speed Seamless-Shift Gearbox, it doles out an incredible 804 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The Elva achieves the 0 – 100 kph (62 mph) sprint in less than three seconds and the zero to 200 kph (124 mph) sprint in only 6.7 seconds.
