In May of 2017, the McLaren 650S was replaced by the second vehicle to be a part of the Super Series lineup, and that car was the McLaren 720S. It didn’t take long – December 2018, to be precise – for the brand to introduce a convertible variant of the vehicle, which quickly became the lineup’s flagship open-top sports car. Today, that vehicle is known as the 2020 McLaren 720S Spider, and we thought we’d see how it measures up to another major open-top sports car by pitting it against the 2020 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder in a side-by-side comparison.

2020 Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder |
710 HP | Horsepower | 631 HP |

212 mph | Top Speed | 202 mph |
We looked at a few of the most important specifications to consider when shopping for a super car like these two, putting the results of our research in the table above. As you can see, the two vehicles are rather comparable to one another, but the twin-turbo V8 powertrain of the 720S Spider manages to dominate the V10 engine that powers the Huracan EVO Spyder.
We looked at power ratings in the first half of the table, first horsepower and then torque. For the former, the McLaren 720S Spider generates 79 HP more than the Lamborghini vehicle, while the advantage is further stretched in the latter to 125 pound-feet of torque. That’s quite the difference and ensures that the McLaren is going to deliver a more enjoyable experience on the road, which is cemented by the second half of the table.
Here we looked at performance numbers, first highlighting the incredible 0-62 miles per hour times of each vehicle. However, though both are impressive, the 720S Spider manages to hit the mark 0.2 seconds faster than the Huracan EVO Spyder. Furthermore, the McLaren super car can eventually drive 10 mph faster than the Lamborghini when looking at top speed in the final row.
