It goes without saying that McLaren makes some pretty fast vehicles. No matter which McLaren you’re driving, you’re going to be able to reach some shockingly lofty speeds. Customers often ask us here at McLaren Chicago which model occupies the absolute top of the range. Which McLaren reaches the highest speeds?
The McLaren Speedtail is the fastest McLaren model to date. This insane machine is capable of a top speed of more than 250 mph. It’s the brand’s first-ever Hyper-GT, as well as its most aerodynamically efficient car ever. The Speedtail is powered by a hybrid powertrain that blasts out a full 1070 PS.

Next in line after the Speedtail is the legendary McLaren F1. The F1 can reach up to 240.1 mph, a record it set back in the 1990s. The F1 was the fastest production car of its time and, in our humble opinion, no less than the finest sports car of its generation. In fact, many still see it as the greatest supercar ever built.
Number three in the fastest McLaren models is the McLaren F1 LM, which can achieve up to 225 mph. The F1 LM is a track-oriented iteration of the F1 that was built to honor the five McLaren F1 GTRs that competed in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans race and finished in first, third, fourth, fifth, and thirteenth places overall. The F1 LM is built with modifications necessary to be a road-legal car but gets to forgo the engine intake restrictions imposed on the GTR by racing regulations.
Next up is the McLaren P1, a hybrid supercar with the ability to reach up to 217 mph. The P1 is actually said to be capable of higher speeds but is electronically limited. It was conceived to follow in the footsteps of the F1, aiming to redefine the very concept of a supercar. In making the P1, McLaren put to use all its extensive experience in crafting next-level aerodynamics.
The fifth-fastest McLaren is the McLaren 720S, which, incredibly, is not actually a hypercar but rather a series production model that you can buy right here at McLaren Chicago. The 720S reaches a top speed of 212 mph. The light, strong, fast machine embodies our favorite automaker’s relentless quest to push the limits of what drivers think is possible in a supercar.
