Powerful Hybrid Powertrain in the 2020 McLaren Speedtail

The impressive speed and acceleration of the McLaren Speedtail can mostly be credited to its powerful hybrid powertrain. It combines a 4.0L twin-turbocharged engine with an eMotor system and a high voltage battery pack, delivering an incredible 1036 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain in the Speedtail is quite different from other hybrid models, for its batteries perpetually “self-charge” when the vehicle is driven and utilize a wireless charging pad instead of a plug-in system. The speed and acceleration of the Speedtail can also be credited to its lightweight carbon fiber construction, with a dry weight of only 3,153 pounds.
